Tata Nexon EV Gets Two New Colors (But There’s a Catch)

Tata Motors has refreshed the color palette for its best-selling electric SUV, the Nexon EV. The company has introduced two new shades—Ocean Blue and Pure Grey—bringing the total count of available color options to six.

However, these new aesthetic upgrades are not for everyone. In a move likely designed to drive sales toward higher-value trims, Tata has made these new colors exclusive to the Long Range (45kWh) variants. If you are buying the entry-level Medium Range (30kWh) model, these options are off the table.

The New Shades: Ocean Blue and Pure Grey

The new Ocean Blue is the standout addition. It features a unique blend of blue and green tones, paired with a dual-tone theme that includes a black roof and blacked-out pillars. This refreshing look gives the EV a more youthful and dynamic presence on the road.

The second addition, Pure Grey, offers a more understated, mature aesthetic. It is a light grey shade designed to highlight the car’s sharp body lines, distinctive LED DRLs, and contemporary bumper design without being overly flashy.

Both colors are available across all trims of the 45kWh version: Creative, Fearless, and Empowered.

Under the Hood: The 45kWh Advantage

By restricting these colors to the larger battery pack, Tata is drawing attention to the superior specs of the Long Range model.

    • Range: The 45kWh battery offers a claimed MIDC range of 489 km, significantly higher than the Medium Range version.
    • Power: It produces 106 kW (144 PS) of power, compared to the 95 kW (130 PS) of the smaller variant. Torque remains the same at 215 Nm.
    • Performance: The 45kWh version is slightly faster, sprinting from 0-100 km/h in 8.9 seconds.
    • Charging: It supports faster charging speeds, capable of going from 10% to 80% in just 40 minutes using a 60 kW DC fast charger.

Apart from the paint, the feature list remains unchanged. The Nexon EV continues to offer a tech-heavy package with a 12.3-inch cinematic touchscreen, a JBL sound system, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities, and a 360-degree camera.

With Tata holding nearly 40% of the EV market share, these cosmetic updates help keep the Nexon EV fresh against rising competition from Mahindra and MG.
